Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the Origins of the PNK KanD Project

The craziest part of having deleted my Instagram account is having to work to rebuild my brand on my blog. Everything I posted to IG vanished into thin air when I deleted my account and having to remember what I posted during my five years on Instagram is kind of a ridiculous task.

Which is why I never explained the origins of the PNK KanD Project on my blog.

A million years ago, I was very talkative about the project on Instagram, but I haven’t taken the time to share that same story on my own platform.

Until now.

The PNK KanD Project is actually a spin off from my Faerie Lit Series.

The Faerie Lit Series is the first series of books I ever wrote, and the PNK KanD Project literally wouldn’t exist without it.

The Faerie Lit series is a cute little trilogy (so far) about modern day Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, who all go to rave-style parties (you know, instead of a ball.)

PNK KanD appears very briefly at the end of the third book (Flashbacks & Afterglow), but I never expected her to get her own series.

However, when a reader reached out to me to ask if I had more poetry, an idea blossomed.

I didn’t have poetry, but I did have lyrics. And thus, the PNK KanD Project was born.

At first I was just going to publish “lyric books” of songs that I’d written but never recorded. But, the lyrics that I had did not match the character that I was creating. And, I didn’t feel right putting out the lyrics without the songs. I KNEW that if I was going to publish lyrics, the songs had to exist too.

Next thing I knew, the PNK KanD Project was “born”. The book series where every book comes with an original album of PNK KanD music.

It’s pretty simple.

An entire series created because I needed a celebrity to headline at a festival.

Writing is amazing.
